ZephyrRealms

You missed it. Zephyr Realms 2.1 ended September 5th. Zephyr Realms 3.0 is in the works and will contain many exciting new features. Subscribe to our #announcements channel on Discord for updates on the progress.

Global Rules

Applies to: our Discord server (but not direct messages) and all game servers.
No spamming.
  1. Spamming includes any spam, not just adverts of Minecraft Servers.
  2. It doesn't matter if you didn't say the IP. Saying the name can be considered spamming as well.
  3. Talking about other servers in a casual conversation is ok.
  4. Spam is repeating the same character or message more than three times in a message or repeating the same/similar message more than once.
  5. Using the same greeting every time someone joins the server is not spam.
No offensive language.
  1. Swear words are just words. The way they are used is where the problems come from.
  2. Censorship is pointless. A censored word is treated the same as the word itself.
  3. Do not use foul or offensive language against another person.
  4. Do not attempt to trigger or continue arguments in public chat. Take it to a private channel if you must.
  5. Do not use offensive words like gay or retarded to describe something that you think is disgusting or abnormal.
  6. All political subjects are to be avoided::
Immigration, Abortion, Guns, Foreign Policy, Taxes, Gay marriage, Health care, Economy and jobs, Civil liberties, Crime and safety, Environment, Education, Budget and spending, National security, Medicare and Social Security, Veterans, Energy
No verbal harassment or drama.
  1. We have a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior. Violations will be enforced by temporary mutes.
  2. Being physically attacked, raided, stalked, or pranked does not count as harassment unless accompanied by foul, offensive, or unwanted sexual language.
  3. Staff have the final say in what is and isn't harassment.
  4. Drama is bringing non-server related activity which unnecessarily causes disruption into focus on chat. Offenders usually bring up real money marketing solicitations, real life relationship issues among players, suicidal considerations, or political arguments. All of which are unacceptable and will result in a temp-mute.
  5. Harassment is drama which an offender brings against an rule-abiding victim. Offenders usually bring up hate attacks, non-in game related or serious threats, and undesired sexually related comments.
  6. If you are considering suicide, please seek help from people in real life, not us. We are not responsible for any stupid advice you get from trolls.
All public communication should be safe for work/school.
  1. Pornography (text and images included) is not allowed to be posted directly in any form of public communication.
  2. Do not under any circumstances share adult media with those younger than 18.
  3. Keep in mind that some staff members might be legally minors.
Only write english in public chat.
  1. We do not have any staff who can speak other languages.
No "hacked clients", cheat mods, or x-ray of any form.
  1. Exceptions:
    • Optifine
    • Shaders
    • Resource packs that are not x-ray.
    • Minimap mods. (i.e. Rei's Minimap, Zan's Minimap, VoxelMap)
    • Mods that display more technical information but don't give you an advantage in PvP. (i.e. Chunk borders, Armor HUD, etc.)
  2. Do not accuse someone of using hacks in public. Concern about use of hacks should be submitted on the forums or to a staff member in private with sufficient evidence. (Video is the best because we can see movement.)
No backseat moderating.
  1. Do not assume the role of staff if you are a regular player.
  2. You can make a suggestion, but don't demand that we enforce your interpretation of the rules.
No inappropriate usernames.
  1. Usernames should not contain foul or offensive language.
  2. Don't change your name to be similar to an established player's or staff member's name.
  3. If you refuse to change your name when staff asks you to, you may be temp-banned.
  4. Players who are impersonating may be given a "Fake" prefix instead of being banned for the first offense.

Skylands Rules

Applies only to the Skylands server.
No griefing (Placing or breaking blocks where you don't have permission for.)
  1. Usually, this applies equally to a whole property, however this can be made more or less restrictive in more detail with clearly visible signs.
    Examples:
    • Notch's private room.
    • Please replant the trees.
  2. This also applies to structures that are unclaimed for any reason.
  3. Destroying a shared structure without approval from staff is not allowed.
  4. If you grief on accident (for example digging into someone's base), return any items you stole and do your best to undo your grief. If for any reason you can't undo it, tell a staff member. We won't hold anything against you if it actually was an accident and you notify us. However if you accidentally grief and don't undo anything, you will still be held accountable.
  5. Landlords giving others permission to build on their land does not grant them the right to grief any property on that land. All server rules still apply.
  6. If someone breaks one or more property rules set as explained in Skylands rule 1a, a landlord should first ask the rule breaker to move out and give them at least 24 hours to do so. Failing that, the landlord may ask staff to move their build elsewhere.
  7. In extraordinary cases, one must provide explicit proof that permission was given along with a date and time this was given. (A screenshot of the player saying something like "I give ____ permission to do __________ as of mm/dd/yy.")
  8. Exceptions:
    • Breaking and placing crops such as wheat, potatoes, carrots, pumpkin stalks, melon stalks, and nether wart.
    • Breaking other farmable blocks such as pumpkins, melons, cactus, sugarcane, cocoa beans, and chorus fruit.
    • Indirectly causing a block to be changed. (Example: Holding a sheep attached to a lead over grass.)
    • Placing ladders with intent to be used for climbing and not any other reason.
    • You can take items out of frames, but not break item frames or paintings.
Land claimed must be used. Structures abandoned for a long time may be deleted by staff.
  1. For a structure to be considered abandoned, it must meet the following criteria
    • All owners of the structure have been offline for at least a month.
    • It is in a state of disrepair or violates the building code outlined in rule 4.
    • It is not being used by anyone else with permission.
  2. Structures can (and not necessarily will) be deleted with permission of all structure owners for any other reason.
  3. The existence of a request for deletion does not, in any way, give anyone permission to grief it. Only admins are allowed to remove or reset structures.
Do not build near someone else without their permission.
  1. Near means that it matches any of the following criteria
    • Within visible distance
    • Attached to the same landmass
    • Above or below
  2. If you build an underground base, it is your responsibility to check for builds above and to mark your land above ground with something obviously not natural.
  3. If you build on or above sea level and someone built an underground base without marking it above ground, then you are not at fault.
Do not build offensive, destructive, or lag-inducing structures.
  1. Builds should follow the global rules regarding offensive language.
  2. Structures built [almost] entirely by otherwise natural materials unless it is a terraform.
  3. Any redstone device involving TNT or Fire Charges that can destroy blocks. TNT should only be lit using flint and steel.
  4. Redstone contraptions that cause client and/or server lag on average hardware.
  5. XP grinders and redstone clocks must have an off-switch or otherwise limit how much they run. Don't forget to shut it off when it's not in use.
  6. Spawner-based xp grinders do not have to have an off switch if they aren't in frequently trafficked areas.
  7. Mob farms with an automated kill mechanism are not counted as xp grinders, and therefore don't need an off switch.
Do not abuse glitches that aren't explicitly allowed.
  1. Allowed Glitches:
    • Redstone-related glitches that don't create new items.
    • Bedrock-breaking glitches (if there still are any that Mojang didn't fix)
    • Obsidian generators
    • Glitches that allow going through walls in vanilla Minecraft without lag.
  2. Illegal Glitches:
    • Anything that involves breaking or placing blocks where you don't have access to.
    • Glitches involving lag.
    • Taking items out of menus.
    • Duplicating items.
    • Using enderpearls to teleport into or through blocks without a gap.
  3. If you aren't sure whether a glitch is allowed or not, ask an admin.
Staff are exempt from PvP.
  1. Staff are not allowed to participate in PvP or raiding except for watching while vanished and/or answering questions about rules.
  2. Do not attack a staff member unless you have a death wish.
  3. Do not pick up items that were dropped by an admin without permission. Their inventory may have contained spawned-in items that you aren't allowed to keep.
  4. Staff can pvp/raid with the permission of everyone involved.
Follow these rules during a raid:
  1. If you have killed everyone in a property and stolen everything you wish to steal, you must leave within an hour.
  2. Do not return to the site of the attack with intent to raid or kill for at least 3 days after the initial attack.
  3. If someone traps you, you cannot teleport out (except with an enderpearl) until any of the following conditions are met
    • You die.
    • The person who trapped you logs out.
    • You are released by the trapper.
    • A half-hour has passed.
  4. If one or more property members are online and inside the property you are raiding and a staff member deems your actions unfair, then staff can require you to leave.

Creative Rules

Applies only to the Creative server.
No griefing (Placing or breaking blocks where you don't have permission for.)
  1. Unlike Skylands Survival, the creative server has no exceptions for griefing.
  2. Usually, this applies equally to a whole property, however this can be changed in more detail with clearly visible signs.
    Examples:
    • Only Notch can break open this door.
    • Please replant the trees.
  3. This also applies to structures that are unclaimed for any reason.
  4. Destroying a shared structure without approval from staff is not allowed.
  5. If you grief on accident, do your best to undo your grief. If for any reason you can't undo it, tell a staff member. We won't hold anything against you if it actually was an accident and you notify us. However if you accidentally grief and don't undo anything, you will still be held accountable.
No stealing items or killing animals.
  1. It makes no sense in creative mode anyways. If you want to raid, go to Skylands Survival.
Land claimed must be used. Structures abandoned for a long time may be deleted by staff.
  1. For a structure to be considered abandoned, it must meet the following criteria
    • All owners of the structure have been offline for at least a month.
    • It is in a state of disrepair or violates the building code outlined in rules 4 and 5.
Do not build offensive, destructive, or lag-inducing structures.
  1. Genitalia or offensive symbols such as a swastika.
  2. Structures built [almost] entirely by otherwise natural materials unless it is a terraform.
  3. Any redstone device involving TNT or Fire Charges that can destroy blocks. TNT is disabled and not allowed.
  4. Redstone contraptions that cause client and/or server lag on average hardware.
  5. Grinders and redstone clocks must have an off-switch or otherwise limit how much they run. Don't forget to shut it off when it's not in use.
  6. Spawner-based grinders do not have to have an off switch if they aren't in frequently trafficked areas.
Do not clutter the world with entities or blocks.
  1. Spawned entities must be contained within your build or they'll be deleted.
  2. Scattered blocks may be removed at staff descretion. (Especially if near another player's build.)
  3. Do not build beacons unless part of a larger build.

Staff Rules

Applies to chat-mods, mods, and admins unless otherwise specified in the rule itself. This information is public so you know what to expect from us.
Treat all players equally and fairly.
  1. Respect all players.
  2. Do not lie to players or other staff under any circumstances.
  3. Do not use your powers to give yourself or anyone else an unfair advantage or break any player rules.
  4. Staff powers cannot be used to enforce non-server rules unless one or more server rules are broken in the process.

Mods and above are not allowed to participate in PvP/Raiding.

Staff's alternate accounts are not subject to staff rules.

Do your part in enforcing player rules that you have the tools nessesary for.
  1. If you receive a report and you don't have the tools nessesary to prove rules were broken, escalate this to the next staff rank up.
  2. If you receive a report and a lower ranked staff member is available to solve this issue, deescalate this to the next staff rank down.
Handle player punishments in a fair and professional manner.
  1. Bans should be only be given when a player is uncooperative and unlikely to reform.
  2. Give at least one warning first.
  3. For chat-related offenses, a temp-mute should follow a warning.
  4. If you catch a player in the act of griefing, freeze them first and then warn them.
  5. When you ban a player, do a global ban and not a server-specific ban.
  6. All bans, kicks, and warnings should include a reason.
  7. Suffix ban reasons with "Appeal at zephyr-realms.com"
Be available to respond within 48 hours on Discord.
  1. If you'll be unavailable for longer than that, please let other staff members (or at least admins) know. (#staff-chat would be the best place for this.) Other subrules do not apply during this unavailable time.
  2. Make sure your notifications on Discord are set up so that you will be notified of mentions such as @YourName or @Staff and private messages.
  3. Please respond to these notifications, if they are related to server business, within 48 hours.
  4. If a player mentions or private messages you directly or does not use a mention, please inform them of the @Staff mention if it is logical to do so.
Admin Rules
  1. Don't mess with areas of the system that you have no business in.
  2. Ensure that system security is maintained.

Donate

If someone is willing to finance Zephyr Realms before 3.0 is ready, then I'll start 2.2 which will basically be the same as 2.1, but with a new world. Otherwise, development of 3.0 will continue as planned.
